Medrano - Les Meilleurs numeros au Monde!

After a very hot day in almost 30 degree heat (thank god my office is cool!), we had a game of table tennis - I won again 2 games to nil! - before heading out to the circus at Quai de la Piscine. What a show. This was the best circus we had both ever been to. There were fabulous elephants, trapeze artists, clowns, acrobats, horses, tigers, camels, jugglers, with an outstanding finale of 3 motorcyclists travelling around an iron globe - amazing. 2 hours of total fun, Medrano list themselves as the best in the world, and we don't think they are wrong. At 30 euros a head, it was well worth the excellent seats and first class show.
After the circus, we headed home for some home-made Beef Bourgignon which I prepared last night - a lot of the ingredients came from the garden, which just made it taste even better. Home grown potatoes, carrots and shallots all played their part in a lovely dinner.
We are really getting used to living off the land, it is very exciting picking our own salad every day for lunch. Our tomatoes are coming on a treat, we have 2 varieties, and we cannot wait until they turn red and ripe. Our courgettes are almost ready for eating too, so we have plenty to choose from. The cherry trees are now almost finished and Bert our builder took a tub of cherries home today to make us some jam. The pears, peaches, apples & plums are also starting to ripen and throughout the summer months, we look forward to a good supply of fruit to come.
